Summer 2022 Internship Tuition Program

Curry College is pleased to announce a new $500 Summer Internship Tuition Program for Summer 2022. The College will offer three-credit summer internships at a special reduced price of $500!

PURPOSE

Internships are a key factor in job marketability after graduation. The College wants to engage more students in completing academic internships for credit in the summer session. We firmly believe that internships provide a great way to connect the theories students are learning in the classroom with a hands-on experience that will help set them apart from other job seekers upon graduation from Curry.

HOW IT WILL WORK

The College will offer three-credit summer internships at a cost of $500 for the first three credits.  Any credits above three will be charged at the regular CE tuition rate of $375 per credit.  See below for details on the registration process.

PROGRAM DEADLINE

The priority deadline to register for a summer internship under this program is May 6, 2022.

SUMMER TERM DATES

Please work with your Faculty Internship Facilitator regarding the details of your internship start and end dates as well as your work schedule to ensure it will meet the criteria for academic credit.

CE has two sessions during the summer, students may intern forone or both sessions depending on the number of credits and hours approved by the Faculty Internship Facilitator.

Summer 2022 CE Term Dates:

Term 1- May 23-July 9

Term 2- July 11-August 22

REGISTRATION PROCESS

The summer internship registration process will follow a similar process as the fall and spring semesters:

  1. Students Complete the Internship Application Form (only students eligible for an academic internship can complete the form - contact your Faculty Internship Facilitator if you are unable to view the form).

  2. Student makes an appointment with the Faculty Internship Facilitator in their department.

  3. Student secures a summer internship.

  4. Student Completes the Internship Confirmation Form and contacts their Faculty Internship Facilitator, so that the facilitator can approve the number of credits and finalize the confirmation.

  5. CGCS sends internship details, based on the information in the confirmation form to CE, who will manually register each student.  Students do not need to register for a summer internship using the regular course selection process.

  6. CE will send payment instructions via email to each student in order to complete your registration.  Students will make payment online via Flywire. Students will not receive credit if tuition is not paid.

BENEFITS TO STUDENTS

An academic internship in the summer provides many benefits to students:

  • Students have more time in the summer to devote to an internship - the more time you spend at an internship site, the more you will learn and the more you will be able to network and connect with others within the organization

  • Certain majors as well as athletes are especially short on time during the fall and spring semesters - in those cases, summer is the only time they can participate in an internship

  • An academic internship is listed on the student's transcript

  • Students can get ahead on credits during the summer for a fraction of the standard tuition

  • Interns receive faculty supervision and support from the College

BENEFITS TO CURRY

Curry's aim is to prepare students for a successful career after graduation. Internships are a vital factor in a student's ability to find employment and continuing education opportunities. The College wants to remove barriers that have prohibited students from participating in academic internships in the past. The College also wishes to maintain the integrity of its internship program, which can be done through faculty supervision of interns in the field. The reduction in price will make internships more affordable for students, which hopefully will result in an increase in students completing academic internships in the summer.

How do I find my faculty internship facilitator?‚Äč
Every major has a faculty internship facilitator. Find the list at the bottom of this page: https://my.curry.edu/web/center-for-career-development/internship-program.

If I find my internship on my own, can I still get academic credit through this program?

  • Yes! No matter how you found your internship, you can register for the internship course and request academic credit through this program.

Is there a requirement for the number of hours I need to work at an internship over the summer?

  • Yes, for a three credit internship, a student must complete at least 120 hours in the field. You can work more than this, but not less. Please talk with your Faculty Internship Facilitator about your specific circumstances.
