New Academic Program Development Guidelines

The process for developing and implementing a new academic program, including a major, minor, concentration, or certificate, is a two-stage process.  Stage I involves the development and submission of a Stage I Pre-proposal for distribution, review, and approval by the respective department. Once departmentally approved and voted upon, the proposal should be forwarded to the Chair of the "Advisory Board for Review of New Program Proposals."  The Advisory Board will review the Stage I Pre-proposal to assess its merits and provide support for the development of a Stage II Full New Program Proposal

If a preliminary Stage I Pre-Program Proposal receives initial approval by the Advisory Board, a more comprehensive Stage II Full New Program Proposal should be developed by the department.  Once completed, the Stage II New Program Proposal should be submitted to the Advisory Board Chair for distribution to members and scheduling an Advisory Board meeting to review and comment on the proposal.  If approved, the Proposal will then proceed through the College governance system.
