INTRODUCTION

Please find below a brief overview of faculty appointment and promotion at Curry College. Details about faculty appointments and ranks are available in the current Agreement between Curry College and the Curry College Chapter of the AAUP, and further information about promotions is available in the Promotion and Rolling Contract Same Standards document (both available with login to current faculty).

Full-time Faculty

Curry College is proud to be the professional home to 205 full-time faculty members, including Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, and Instructors. Full-time faculty teach twelve contact hours per semester or the equivalent--typically four courses per semester. Many enjoy reassigned time to pursue research, scholarship, creative work, leadership roles, and other special projects. Full-time faculty serve as academic advisors to students and participate in and/or lead departmental and college-wide faculty governance work, faculty and institutional standing committees, and curriculum initiatives. They are at the heart of events such as Convocation, Family Weekend, Commencement, Open Houses, and Accepted Students Day. After a designated length of service with positive evaluations, full-time faculty are eligible for "Rolling Contract" Status, in which a new three-year contract begins annually (an alternative system to traditional "tenure" at other institutions).

Part-time Faculty

Part-time faculty members at Curry College, including Senior Lecturers, Lecturers, and Associate Lecturers, are often long-standing members of our academic community. All are welcome to participate in faculty professional development programs and services offered by Excellence in Teaching, the Faculty Center, and other committees and groups. Senior Lecturers also participate in campus events such as Family Weekend, Open Houses, Accepted Students Day, and Commencement, as well as departmental meetings and shared work on the curriculum. Lecturers and Senior Lecturers are members of the Curry College chapter of the AAUP.
